"The George" pub project takes another step

The team that are working hard on changing the scaffold clad remnants of our village pub into a thriving community asset have confirmed another succesful step in the development project.

The Architectual Heritage Fund have agreed vital last element of funding to enable the society working to restore "The George" to launch their share issue and prepare an application for the major grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

With further support from Suffolk County Council and the Suffolk Coastal District Councils, Wickham Market Partnership together with funds generated by the society they have reached a key stage of their plan.

The architectual Heritage Fund, Support Officer, Tessa Hilder commented:

“The George Community Pub Ltd have laid strong foundations for their plans to restore the historic George as a thriving community business. We’re very pleased to support them in this next key stage of their fundraising.”
