On Thursday 17 April Jamie Smith from Suffolk Wildlife Trust presents a talk entitled ‘North East Suffolk Reserves Round up’ at Woodbridge Community Hall, Station Road, IP12 4AU, starting at 7.30 pm. Local group chairman Phil Smith, said “As North East Suffolk Warden Jamie is responsible for a diverse range of reserves, from reed bed to woodland, grazing marsh and a wild flower meadow. We’ll be learning about the work that goes on throughout the year to maintain these reserves as well as hearing about the interesting fauna and flora that can be seen on them.” Admission to the talk is £4 for adults, with under 25’s free. During the evening there will be a raffle and light refreshments. Doors open at 7 pm and there is no need to book for this talk, pay on the door with card or cash.

Later in the month, on Saturday 26 April, the group will be holding a Bluebell Walk at Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Captain’s Wood reserve in Sudbourne, starting at 10 am. Chairman Phil Smith said “This is a lovely and interesting reserve at any time of year but it should be looking particularly spectacular in April as carpets of bluebells grow beneath the veteran oak trees.”

Parking for this walk is at Sudbourne Village Hall car park, from where it is a short walk down to the Reserve entrance. Places on this walk are strictly limited and must be pre-booked by contacting Suffolk Wildlife Trust. The cost is £5 per person with under 25’s free, and bookings can be made online through www.suffolkwildlifetrust.org (events section) or by telephoning them on 01473 890089. The walk will last approximately 2 hours and is suitable for children over 10. No Dogs except assistance dogs. Participants are advised to wear sturdy waterproof footwear (as the ground is uneven and wet in places) and bring binoculars.
