OUR PARISH, OUR FUTURE
Wickham Market Parish Council started preparing a Neighbourhood Plan in 2015. The aim of the plan was to develop a shared vision for our neighbourhood and shape the development and growth Wickham Market taking into account the views of residents. Neighbourhood Plan policies take precedence over non-strategic Local Plan policies in decision-making. In other words, the Neighbourhood Plan “trumps” the Local Plan (on certain matters). In addition, once a Neighbourhood Plan is approved the council receive an increase of 15% to 25% of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) for new development. The Plan is now published on the ESC Planning portal as the Referendum version together with ESCs Decision Statement on 2 August which gave approval for the plan to go forward to referendum. ESC has now called a referendum to be held in the back room of Wickham Market Village Hall on 12 October 23 from 7am to 10pm. Should more than half of those voting support the Neighbourhood Plan, the plan comes into force as part of the statutory development plan for the area. Please read the information provided and use your opportunity to vote. The Referendum version of the Neighbourhood Plan and its supporting documents are also available on the Wickham Market Neighbourhood Plan Key Documents page.
