Wickham Market Christmas Market, a big thank you!

Wickham Market Parish Council would like to extend a big thank you to the helpers, singers, visitors and shoppers who made the Christmas Market such a successful event this year. After cancellation in December 2020, it was good to see so many people enjoying the festive atmosphere of the village, market, and our shops and cafes.

The stall holders braved the damp and wind and made a lovely display of varied crafts, foods, clothing with many lovely and mostly local gifts to be purchased. Alongside them, the various charity stalls (WM Good Neighbours, All Saints, Beehive Foundation, WI, Riding for the Disabled, did well in raising much needed funds and interest in their good causes.

Father Christmas made a welcome visit and children were happy to receive gifts of books and apples. The primary school children decorated the Christmas tree and sang carols followed by the All Saints church congregation and choir.

Our thanks also goes to the East of England COOP for supporting the event, East Suffolk District Council for three new gazebos, and Cllr Poulter’s funds for children’s gifts and promotion.

We also appreciated the visit and support from our District Councillor Carol Poulter and MP Dan Poulter.

In the lead up to Christmas our regular stall holders will attend on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Newbourne vegetables will be present at the Wednesday morning market on 22nd December along with the fish van, DPC.

There will be no market on Saturday 25th December or 1st January 2022.

Wickham Market Parish Council hold weekly Wednesday and Saturday morning markets and two full markets in Summer and Winter.

New stall holders will be welcome either for a regular or occasional space. If you have any ideas or would like to help bring these events together please do get in touch with the WM Parish Council Clerk Al Besly.
