Suffolk County Council and the Environment Agency are in the process of collating information on the flooding experienced in Wickham Market during Storm Babet last October to inform the investigation report and recommendations.
If you have any information on the flooding in Wickham Market that you haven’t previously shared with Suffolk County Council or the Environment Agency, please can you send to floodinvestigations@suffolk.gov.uk; or Enquiries_EastAnglia@environment-agency.gov.uk by the end of June. Please ensure any photos contain details of exactly where they were taken and when they were taken (date and ideally the time).
See postcard below which contains useful information and a link to a survey for you to complete should you wish to provide more information. Copies of the postcard are available in the Atrium at the Resource Centre/Library in Wickham Market.
The information collected will support the Flood Investigation Report, currently being written. The purpose is to provide context as to what happened during Storm Babet and recommendations on how flood risk could be managed. Further information of what a Flood Investigation Report is can be found here Flood Investigation Guidance Note
Flooded property owners can apply for up to £5,000 via the Government's Flood Recovery Framework to help make their homes and businesses more resilient to future flooding. Grants are only available to people who suffered internal flood damage to their homes or businesses during Storm Babet (between 19-25 October 2023). Properties that have already reported flooding via the Highways Reporting Tool and have been determined as potentially eligible by the Council for this grant will have been contacted directly via letter or email with detail about how to apply.
Further information on the grant can be found here Property Flood Resilience Grant.
