Would you like to work for your local community? Wickham Market Parish Council is seeking a new maintenance operative. A ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to tackle any task is a must. You will also preferably have some experience of working in a maintenance position. Tasks may include litter collection, cleaning equipment and installations, grass-cutting, small repairs and event set up.
Hours: 10 – 15 hours per week. flexible Job Type: Part-time, Self Employed Salary: £10 - £12 per hour Job Purpose
To assist with the maintenance and repair of the council’s open spaces and assets.
To undertake other duties commensurate with the post.
Main Duties
To assist with the repair and maintenance of the council’s assets.
To conduct regular checks of and playground equipment. Training will be given
To repair and maintain seating.
To report and repair faults and vandalism to street work, furniture and equipment.
To assist with the care and maintenance of the council’s open spaces and footpaths including cutting back overgrowth of weeds and hedges, gritting paths when necessary
To undertake general cleaning and litter picking.
Ideally, as a Maintenance Operative you will have;
Good communication and organisation skills
Ability to manage workload. Prioritise tasks and time efficiently and able to work alone
Experience with DIY and gardening alongside basic Health & Safety knowledge
