Planning Concern

Planning application DC/22/3613/FUL | Demolition of Outbuilding and Erection of Dwelling Rear Of 40 To 42 High Street Wickham Market IP13 0QS Residents in the central Village area should have received the Public Notice of Proposed Development as above. It is for a large 4 bed modernist cube-shape 2 storey building in a style similar to that known as ‘Brutalist Architecture’ and will be visible from the Village Square and High Street. It will overlook Crafers Car park access road and the well-used pathway from the Market Square to the Village Hall, Sports Ground and Co-Op etc. Whatever one’s view on modern architecture this is no place for it, in the centre of our historic Village. Details may be viewed at: publicaccess.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/online-applications Under; DC/22/3613/FUL | Demolition of Outbuilding and Erection of Dwelling | The Yard Rear Of 40 To 42 High Street Wickham Market IP13 0QS The Village needs to come together to avoid this totally inappropriate construction on a secluded central-Village site, which, as pointed out by the Planners, is well behind the acceptable building line, a view we should actively support. There is no outline permission to build a house here, which at present has original Victorian outbuildings and historic boundary walls, which may be subject to listed building status. The matter of any development of this site has apparently not been sanctioned. Objectors are encouraged to contact planning@eastsuffolk.gov.uk. with the reference DC/22/3613/FUL. Or phone; 01394 444779 A lack of action may result in an irreversible eyesore and destroy the charm of central Wickham Market by over-development. Posted with great concern by a local resident, and please remember, do not leave these matters for someone else to deal with, the only way is concerted action to preserve our environment.
